Optivo chief takes over as G15 chair

Helen Evans, chief executive of Network, has taken on the role of vice chair of the group, which represents the 15 largest housing associations in London.

Optivo was formed by a merger of Amicus Horizon and Viridian last month, to create a 44,000-home housing association.

Mr Hackett said the country is going through “a period of uncertainty”, following the general election last week that delivered no outright majority for any political party, so it is “even more important” that the G15 works to increase the number of new homes and “address Britain’s broken housing market”.

Mr Hackett said: “I’d like to thank David Montague for the fantastic job he’s done as chair over the past two years. David has developed a clear and compelling narrative about the G15’s role as a key delivery partner for the mayor and government.

“I’m delighted to be taking over the chair at this important time. Collectively, the G15 has committed to increase the delivery of new homes by 50%, to 60,000 over the next four years. Of these 42,000 homes will be affordable, with the remainder for market sale and market rent.

“The country is going through a period of uncertainty, so it’s even more important that G15 works with its partners to create the conditions that will enable housing associations to maximise the supply of new homes, matched with a commitment to help address Britain’s broken housing market.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Greater London Authority, the boroughs and the new government to drive higher housing supply in London, and with Helen Evans as we take the G15 forward.”
