Retirement house builder McCarthy & Stone has formed a “strategic relationship” with Places for People.
The UK’s leading retirement house builder mentioned the partnership in a trading update last month, but declined to provide further details when asked by Inside Housing. Places for People, meanwhile, did not respond to requests for comment.
The update said: “Over the course of the last financial year, the group has sought to enhance its business model by developing a strategic relationship with Places for People.
“This represents an exciting new opportunity to access the growing rental market and has the potential to improve capital return and enable land investment in new, previously untapped locations.”
So far the partnership has yielded the sale of 126 flats across 27 sites, which will be held within a specialist retirement private rented sector fund being established and managed by PfP Capital, Places for People’s fund management arm.
Places for People, one of the UK’s largest housing associations, was recently selected as the preferred merger partner for troubled housing association Luminus, a process which it is understood will be completed by February.
