The mayor of London has approved the application to redevelop a former hotel site in west London after the application was initially refused by Hillingdon Council.
Submitted by developer Inland Homes, the plans for the former Master Brewer site include 514 homes, of which 182 will be for London Affordable Rent or shared ownership.
The development will also include new commercial space, transport improvements and new public realm.
In March, the mayor used his powers to ‘call in’ the planning application after he was notified by Hillingdon Council of its intention to refuse the application.
Hillingdon Council set out eight reasons for rejecting the proposal that include the belief that the site was being overdeveloped, had insufficient car parking and would lead to an unacceptable increase in traffic.
However, the mayor said the design proposals for the site are of high quality and included a “policy-compliant” mix of tenures.
He added that the area has “a good level of transport infrastructure provision”.
The plans must now be approved by housing secretary Robert Jenrick before being given the green light.
