The commercial arm of one of the North West’s largest housing associations has revealed plans to build a new £48m private rental scheme in Salford.
ForLiving, which is the commercial arm of registered landlord ForViva, will begin construction later this year on the 389-apartment Dock 5 scheme in Ordsall. ForViva also includes the 24,000-home housing association ForHousing.
The eight-storey development will contain apartments exclusively for the private rented sector, as well as on-site cinema rooms, a gym and a residents’ lounge. The scheme, which will be 10 minutes from Salford’s MediaCityUK, will be completed in 2023.
ForLiving was formed as the commercial arm of ForViva in 2015 and offers homes for sale, shared ownership and private rent. It works in partnership with major house builders and has helped deliver schemes around the North West.
ForHousing was created after City West Housing and Villages Housing Association merged. The two organisations were brought under one single landlord earlier this year. It owns and manages homes across the North West in areas such as Fylde, Knowsley, Oldham and Salford.
In April, the association appointed Henry Terefenko as chief executive. Mr Terefenko had previously been the commercial director of ForViva’s construction division.
Commenting on the Dock 5 project, Paul Gerrard, director of ForLiving, said: “Dock 5 is a unique development, with luxury communal facilities rarely seen in Greater Manchester.
“Ordsall is fast becoming a prime location for both commuters and young people. We wanted to reflect that youthful vibrancy by providing the ultimate in urban living. We are delighted to deliver this to the local community.
“This scheme is the latest in the group’s commitment to developing state-of-the-art properties across the North West.”
