Two housing associations under review by regulator

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is reviewing the governance ratings of Gentoo and Central & Cecil (C&C) Housing Trust – both of which already have a G2 and V2 rating.

The associations could be downgraded to a non-compliant grade following the investigation.

Simon Walker, company secretary of Gentoo Group, said: “The Gentoo Group board has recently identified an issue concerning a governance matter which we have immediately self-reported to our regulator, the Homes and Communities Agency. As a result, we have since been informed by the HCA that our governance grading is now under review.
“We have already commissioned an external organisation to carry out a thorough independent investigation into the matter and the regulator is aware of our approach. The findings of the investigation will be shared with the HCA to assist with its review.”

A spokesperson for C&C said: “C&C is constantly reviewing its operational performance in order to improve and grow. During the course of this work, we found some internal issues that required our attention. We contacted the regulator in line with our duty of co-regulation and made them aware.

“We have been working hard to complete our improvement plans and have already resolved these issues.”
