North West landlord appoints new boss #ukhousing

Nicole Kershaw will join One Manchester as chief executive in January after just over a year as chief operating officer at Cheshire-based Halton Housing.

Ms Kershaw joined 7,000-home Halton Housing as interim chief operating officer in May last year, but was installed in the position permanently in December. Halton appointed a new chief executive in April after Nick Atkin joined Yorkshire Housing.

At One Manchester, which was formed by the merger of Eastlands Homes and City South Manchester Housing in 2015, she will take over from Dave Power.

He took on the top job following the merger, having been chief executive of City South Housing Trust since April 2008. Prior to that he spent nearly 10 years at Places for People.

Asked about his next steps, in a statement provided to Inside Housing, Mr Power said: “I have no plans at the moment, but I’m looking forward to having more time to pursue other interests in my life.”

In its past full-year to the end of March 2019, One Manchester reported a 62% jump in surplus to £16.2m, as well as a slight rise in turnover to £57.6m.

Ms Kershaw, who spent time at the Guinness Partnership and Irwell Valley Housing Association earlier in her career, said: “This is an exciting time to build on the successes to date and reach new heights for the benefit of One Manchester’s people and places.”

The landlord operates homes in central, south and east Manchester.
