Regulator writes to housing associations about fire safety
Social landlords must be clear about their fire safety obligations, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has said.
In a letter to providers, Fiona MacGregor, director of regulation at the HCA, emphasised the importance of recognising responsibility.
“Contracting out delivery of services,” she wrote, “does not contract out responsibility to meet the requirements of legislation or standards, so providers need systems to give boards assurance of compliance.”

The letter also suggested that providers seek professional advice if they are not clear on their statutory obligations.
Social landlords across the country have also been instructed by the government to check the cladding on all their tower blocks. Specifically, they are being asked to ascertain whether aluminium composite material has been used in any cladding projects.
