Mr Lunt said: “I am excited to be joining an organisation that has a clear vision and strong social purpose. I look forward to working to ensure the group maintains its financial strength to deliver its ambitions.”

Before working at Alliance Medical, he worked for the auditor PwC, where he worked in various roles, including audit director.

In 2015, his current company was awarded a huge 10-year contract with NHS England worth £350m to provide more than half of England’s PET/CT imaging services.

Craig Moule, chief executive of Sanctuary, said: “Ed brings strong financial experience to the role which can be used to support the group in achieving our objectives and we are delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Update: at 12.53 on 23.1.19 The number of homes managed by Sanctuary was updated to reflect the group figure rather than the number managed by the group’s housing association subsidiary.
