The regulator said it has acted to safeguard tenants’ interests after an independent review identified failures to meet regulatory standards of governance and financial management.

The review found “serious and wide-ranging compliance failures across all six standards”, the regulator said.

Thistle was also failing to meet the Scottish Social Housing Charter in relation to communications standards with tenants and other customers, the regulator said.

Ian Brennan, director of regulation, said: "Thistle has recognised the need to change in order to comply with regulatory standards.

“Our intervention will support that change so that tenants and service users have the benefit of a fully compliant registered social landlord.”

Thistle is based in Toryglen, Glasgow, and owns 950 homes.

Inside Housing has contacted Thistle for comment.
