Top story: NHS investigated Sanctuary care home months before police probe

Concerns over the quality of service at a housing association care home led to an official probe by NHS groups six months before a police investigation was launched, Inside Housing can reveal.

Documents show that a series of reviews were carried out into the Garside House care home earlier in the year by Central London and Hammersmith & Fulham clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) after they were made aware of concerns about the quality of care.

Sanctuary said it was sorry that standards had slipped below where it wanted them and the CCG said an improvement plan had been put into operation.

Sadiq Khan deeply disappointed by lack of response to cladding letter

Sadiq Khan has told housing secretary Robert Jenrick that he is “deeply disappointed” by the government’s failure to respond to a letter sent before Christmas urging action on building safety.

The London mayor wrote to Mr Jenrick on 23 December asking ministers to act on six areas relating to fire safety.

The letter, signed by members of the Homes for Londoners board, including two housing association chief executives, requested the government to expand its cladding remediation funds to all types of unsafe cladding and give residents “realistic” timescales for the work.
