Top story: Less than 15% of £163m Community Housing Fund allocated as deadline looms

Inside Housing has obtained figures showing that a major government housing fund is significantly under allocated with just one month left to run.

Just £21.1m of the £163m Community Housing Fund has been snapped up – less than 15% of what is available.

The fund, which is intended to help groups that want to develop their own homes through community land trusts or housing co-operatives, was announced by David Cameron’s government in 2016.

It was initially expected to be worth £60m a year over five years, but bidding did not open until July last year with a timeframe to run for only 18 months.
