Ann Santry, chief executive of Sovereign Housing, has announced she will leave the organisation in 2018.
Ms Santry has led Sovereign for 18 years, growing the business from 11,000 to 56,000 homes and leading it through a merger with Spectrum last year. The housing association is now one of the six largest in the country.
The recruitment process for a successor will begin in January, with Ms Santry remaining in the job until the new chief executive starts.
Ms Santry said: “I’ve been the chief executive of Sovereign for 18 years and have been privileged to lead, what I truly believe to be, a fantastic organisation. Together, we’ve achieved so much for so many people who need our support.”
Gordon Holdcroft, chair of Sovereign, who was himself appointed in July this year, added: “Under Ann’s leadership, Sovereign has developed the capacity, financial strength and influence to really make the difference.
“Thanks to her, thousands of people now have safe, affordable homes in places they want to live. Her impressive contribution to housing was recognised through the award of a CBE in 2012.”
