Last month, Sovereign appointed Rita Akushie as its new interim chief financial officer to replace Mark Hattersley who left the business to join Clarion Housing earlier this year.

Sovereign was one of eight bidders to secure grant as part of Homes England’s strategic partnership programme in July. In partnership with housing association Liverty, the JV secured £111.5m to start an additional 2,275 homes before March 2022.

Mark Washer, chief executive of Sovereign, said: “While our development programme has continued to grow under the experienced and capable leadership of Dale Meredith, I’m excited that Tom will be joining our team to take forward our ambitious plans.

“We will expand our programme to build more than 1,900 news homes a year by 2022, taking more control through more land-led opportunities. I’m excited at what Tom and the team will achieve in the coming years.”
