Two supported living specialist housing associations have confirmed their intention to merge to form a 4,500-home landlord #UKhousing

Reside Housing Association is set to merge with Progress Housing Group in the autumn.

Confirmation of the merger follows the completion of the due diligence process and approval from the boards of both housing associations.

The two specialist housing providers are significant players in the supported living sector and provide accommodation for people with learning disabilities and autism.

Progress manages more than 3,100 supported living tenancies, while Reside manages around 1,450.

The combined organisation has set itself the goal of becoming the country’s leading provider of supported living accommodation, particularly for people with a learning disability or autism.

Diane French, chief executive at Reside, said: “Reside’s purpose for nearly 20 years has been to respond to the often bespoke needs of those needing housing with support.

“By working together with Progress, another values-led provider, we will be able to house more people and enhance our specialist offer, allowing people to live their best lives, promoting independence and supporting social care commissioning.

“We believe that this partnership will be a significant and welcome development for the sector.”

Jacqueline De-Rose, group chief executive at Progress, said: “I am delighted that our two organisations have joined and that as one organisation we will play a major part in meeting the huge need for high-quality supported living accommodation.

“Our partnership will enable us to deliver more new homes and to deliver even better services for our customers.”
