Jake Berriman was deputy chief executive of 10,000-home Connexus Group but has left his post.

He was previously chief executive of Shropshire Housing Group, which merged with Herefordshire Housing Group last July to form Connexus.

Paul Sutton, director of assets and development at Connexus, and Matthew Hill, head of development at the association’s construction arm Floreat Homes have also quit.

Connexus did not explain the reason for the resignations.

Peter Brown, current chief executive of Connexus and former boss of Herefordshire Housing, will retire on Monday to be replaced by an interim chief executive.

He had initially intended to step down at the end of June, with a statement issued by Connexus in May indicating that Mr Berriman would replace him as the association’s head.

Connexus’ chair, Ruth Cooke, is chief executive of Clarion, the UK’s largest housing association.

Ms Cooke said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Jake, Paul and Matthew for all of their hard work and contributions to the business.”

Duncan Forbes, an ex-lawyer and former chief executive of Welsh housing association Bron Afon Community Housing, will take over as interim chief executive of Connexus next week.

He said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Connexus and I’m looking forward to working with the colleagues to take the organisation forward.”

Outgoing Mr Brown said: “I’ve enjoyed every minute in housing but after working for 11 housing associations, six as chief executive, it’s time to start a new adventure. Connexus is a great organisation with great people.”

In a statement issued today, Connexus said the resignations of Mr Berriman, Mr Sutton and Mr Hill “do not impact on the services provided to customers as interim arrangements are in place and permanent appointments will be looked at shortly”.

Attempts have been made to contact Mr Berriman and Mr Hill. Details for Mr Sutton could not be found.
