Housing association Valleys to Coast has announced the appointment of social care expert Joanne Oak as its new chief executive.
Ms Oak will join the Bridgend-based landlord in early May, replacing interim chief executive Duncan Forbes, who has been leading the organisation for the past six months. Previous boss Donna Baddeley stepped down last summer.
Valleys to Coast provides and manages nearly 6,000 homes across Bridgend, south Wales, and said Ms Oak’s appointment will help with its vision to “build a better Wales”.
Ms Oak has more than two decades’ experience of holding senior leadership roles across the public and third sectors.
Most recently she has been director of corporate services and strategy at Social Care Wales, and is a board member of Bron Afon and a trustee for Buildings Communities Trust.
She said: “I am passionate about making a difference, ensuring everyone has access to a decent home and that we build vibrant communities.
“I am really looking forward to joining the fantastic Valleys to Coast team, working with customers and partners to ensure we continue to build more homes and support the local community.”
Anthony Whittaker, board chair at Valleys to Coast, added: “We are delighted that Jo will be joining us as our new chief executive.
“We are looking forward to working with her and the rest of the team to deliver our exciting and ambitious plans to support our customers and provide much-needed new homes in Bridgend.”
