The pandemic led to a few changes last year, too, but this time the nominees and their supporters were not sitting at home in front of their laptops.

One similarity with last year’s awards, however, is that once again many winners have been recognised for the outstanding service they have provided to residents and service users during this unprecedented period.

One category, however, does combine both sets of awards. This is the joint award for employer of the year, and it was won by North Star Housing, which is based in Stockton-on-Tees.

The judges said that while they were “blown away” by the work done by all entrants over the past 18 months, North Star’s staff had gone “several extra miles”.

Nottingham City Homes was highly commended in the same category.
