A housing association has closed a site in Shropshire and paused development after the affordable housing developer working on it went into administration.
As Inside Housing reported last week, Saxonby Homes has gone into administration after “cashflow pressures”.
At the time, it was carrying out a project on Haybridge Hall in Telford for The Wrekin Housing Trust that it described on its website as “a complex project of demolition, façade retention and new construction of 10 apartments”.
The Wrekin Housing Trust has confirmed to Inside Housing that all work on the site has ceased for the moment.
A spokesperson for the trust said: “We have arranged for 24-hour security to patrol and monitor the site. The trust is currently liaising with the administrator, FRP Advisory, and we will issue a statement once we have received further information from FRP Advisory.”
On Saxonby’s website, two other developments for other organisations appear to be still ongoing. One is an affordable housing development of 21 houses and apartments for Derwent Living.
Peter McCormack, chief executive at Derwent Living said: “Our team is working with other parts of the Saxonby business over the coming weeks to look at options for finalising the new development at Alfreton.”
The other is a development of 30 affordable homes for Wales & West Housing. According to the website, that development “involves remediation of a disused brownfield site and significant civil engineering works that are being undertaken by Saxonby Groundworks”.
Saxonby has also worked for some of the country’s larger housing associations, including Sanctuary and Midland Heart. It is understood, however, that these developments have been completed.
Inside Housing has contacted Wales & West with requests for comment.
