Specialist BME social landlord Arhag has purchased a new headquarters to house the hub, as it seeks to position itself as the “go-to organisation for migrants and refugees in London”, according to a statement.

The premises in Stratford, east London, will include a medical centre, along with employment and legal support.

Arhag, which owns more than 1,000 properties in London, plans to lead 10 specialist providers to offer support services in the centre. It is scheduled to launch later this year.

Arhag anticipates that the medical centre will be provided in part by charity Doctors of the World, which supplies healthcare to asylum seekers and undocumented migrants.

Qadeer Kiani, chair of Arhag, said the hub would allow partners to “focus more of their resources on their core offerings” and “improve overall service”.

He added: “We have now made significant progress to the aim of creating a one-stop shop for migrant and refugee services in London.

“It comes at a time when many migrants face huge challenges to access basic services like health and housing and struggle to get employment and legal advice, where needed.”
