David Orr named new chair of Clarion’s housing association arm
David Orr, the former chief executive of the National Housing Federation, has been appointed as the new chair of Clarion’s housing association arm.
Mr Orr, who joined the group board of the 125,000-home landlord last November, will take over from David Avery who has been appointed to chair Clarion’s wider group board.
Mr Orr previously spent 13 years running the National Housing Federation before stepping down last year.
Last October he was revealed as chair at for-profit provider ReSI Housing, the housing association subsidiary of Residential Secure Income.
His 30-year housing career has included stints as chief executive of Newlon Housing Trust and working for homelessness charity Centrepoint.

Mr Orr said: “It is a critical time for the housing sector and I am looking forward to playing my part in the continued development of our housing association.
“I want Clarion Housing to lead the way in responding to residents needs and aspirations by providing a service that meets the expectations of modern customers.”
Earlier today Clarion reported a slight dip in annual surplus, its third consecutive yearly fall.
Mr Avery said: “I have every confidence that David will oversee the continued development of Clarion Housing and that our residents and staff will all benefit from his experience and knowledge of the sector.”
Clarion divides its business into Clarion Housing, the 125,000-home housing association which is the UK’s largest; its private development business Latimer; its support services and telecare business Centra; and its charitable arm Clarion Futures.
