National campaign group Generation Rent claims it is financially secure following a fundraising campaign over the last month.
The group launched an emergency crowdfunding campaign to raise £60,000 after seeing a sudden cut in its grant from the Nationwide Foundation in July, warning it faced “oblivion”.
The fundraising campaign was aimed at securing funding for two full-time positions by 31 August.
Generation Rent fell short of this target, raising a total of £17,982 from 371 people.
However, in addition to the crowdfunding campaign, the group also received a donation of £45,500 from the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust, earmarked to support the organisation’s work in London.
The group said the funds raised would allow Generation Rent to fund a team of two, director Betsy Dillner and communications manager Dan Wilson Craw, until next June.
Ms Dillner said: “A month ago our future looked very bleak, with no guarantee that we would be able to survive past September.
“The team here has thrown everything we had at fundraising and we have been humbled by the response.”
