The media marks the six-month anniversary of the Grenfell Tower disaster with widespread coverage of the tragedy
In the news
Much of the housing news today is, of course, dominated by the six-month anniversary of the Grenfell Tower disaster. A memorial service, attended by the survivors, top politicians and royalty, will be held later in St Paul’s Cathedral, in central London.
To mark the anniversary, the BBC runs an interview with a family who have been stuck in a hotel room since the blaze and also a video explainer of what we know about the spread of the blaze.
The Financial Times runs an in-depth piece claiming little has changed since the fire and the Huffington Post carries a comment piece from Labour’s Diane Abbott claiming the government has failed survivors.
On our website, we have research showing more than half of all council tower blocks have not yet undergone a fresh fire risk assessment, and an exclusive revealing that dangerous cladding will be ripped off one of the world’s largest modular towers. Stay tuned for some testimonies from survivors and more coverage tomorrow.
