City West Housing Trust has merged with Villages Housing Association and For Works – its former direct labour organisation (DLO) – to form For Viva.

The group sees Salford-based City West spread its reach into Knowsley and Oldham, where Villages is based.

Tim Doyle, group chief executive of For Viva and chief executive of City West, described the merger as a meeting of ‘like-minded’ organisations.

He said Villages was keen on the deal because City West can help it develop a number of sites available for new homes.

City West manages 14,600 homes and Villages manages 2,700.

Mr Doyle said: ‘For Viva brings together three organisations under a single ethos that is dedicated to delivering excellent services and improving lives.’
