Ms Henderson has worked at Salix Homes for 18 years, most recently as director of people and inclusion.

The housing association said she has been a “driving force in shaping the organisation”.

Ms Henderson joined the landlord in 2007 as HR manager, before working her way to the senior leadership team in 2011.

She said: “I’m incredibly proud to continue my journey with Salix Homes as part of the executive management team.

“Having spent the majority of my career here, I’ve seen the organisation evolve and grow, and I’m looking forward to playing a part in its next chapter.”

Ms Henderson said it was a “pivotal moment” for Salix Homes, “as we develop and deliver our next corporate plan for 2025 and beyond”.

“I’m excited to draw upon my experience to help drive forward our ambitions for innovation, transformation and continuous improvement, always keeping our people, both customers and colleagues, at the heart of everything we do – from shaping our culture, to improving how we work and the services we provide,” she said.

Salix Homes recently appointed a new chief executive.

Liam Turner is taking over from Sue Sutton following her retirement.

Mr Turner said: “Sarah brings a wealth of experience, a strong connection to our values, and a deep understanding of our people and purpose.

“As we look to the future, Sarah’s leadership will help us build on the strong progress we’ve made, bringing both continuity and fresh perspectives.

“Her appointment reinforces our commitment to stability while ensuring we continue to innovate, improve our services and stay focused on what matters most to our customers, colleagues and communities.”
