House builder Vistry Group has appointed a new chair after announcing incumbent Ian Tyler will step down next year.
Ralph Findlay has been appointed to take on the role at Vistry in July next year.
Mr Tyler, who has served as chair for eight and a half years, will step down during the house builder’s annual general meeting in May.
As former chief executive of pub and hotel operator Marston’s, Mr Findlay has experience of top-level management, and has been a non-executive director of Vistry since April 2015. He is also currently chair of the audit committee and a senior independent director at the organisation.
Mr Findlay said: “On behalf of the board I would like to thank Ian for his invaluable contribution as non-executive chair of the company since 2013. Alongside Greg and the senior team, Ian has played an instrumental role in helping this business become one of the UK’s top house builders.”
Vistry, which was formerly called Bovis Homes, is one of the sector’s biggest partnership builders through its Vistry Partnerships arm.
Earlier this year, Vistry Partnerships was announced as one of Homes England’s strategic partners after it was revealed that private developers could secure these deals in the latest round of funding.
In September, Vistry set out a strategy to deliver net zero homes. The house builder aims for its homes to be net zero “in use” by 2030 and to achieve a 75% to 80% reduction in carbon emissions from a 2013 benchmark by 2025.
Commenting on Mr Findlay’s appointment, Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Vistry, said: “I very much look forward to continuing to work with Ralph in his new role as chair of the board.
“He will provide important continuity for Vistry as we pursue the group’s growth strategy and continue the great progress towards our medium-term targets in both housebuilding and partnerships, with a firm focus on maximising the strengths and opportunities from our unique combination.”
