Savills Investment Management’s (IM) environmental, social and governance (ESG) team is embedding sustainability across both the business and the wider real estate sector. The team plays a pivotal role in investor engagement conversations; it runs education sessions, presents at internal investor meetings, and conducts bespoke training sessions with investors on areas such as UK anti-greenwashing regulations, net zero and impact investing.
Members of the team take part in industry working groups and committees to collaborate with peers and bodies on ESG best practice, and as signatories to the Better Buildings Partnership’s (BPP) Climate Commitment, Savills IM has pledged to publicly report the firms’ progress towards its net zero goals. The ESG team guides Savills IM’s net zero carbon-related approach, with net zero performance detailed in the team’s annual sustainability reports – all of which are made public on Savills IM’s website. Savills is also the first real estate investment manager to publish its ‘approach to climate resilience’ using the BBP’s climate resilience guidance.
This is a team not just shaping internal change, but also advancing best practice across the entire industry.
