Susan Pasint-Magyar
Number of homes: 441 (all affordable)
Cost: £48.28 million
Part of a 10-year multi-phase partnership between Dunedin Canmore Housing and Edinburgh Council, these homes on Edinburgh’s south side - 423 of which are for affordable rent and 18 for shared ownership - are made up of nine different types of houses and seven types of apartments. The scheme, which received £27.56 million from the council in housing association grant, employed 18 local apprentices, with the majority staying on to work on future phases. Nods to sustainability in the development, another phase of which includes an older persons’ complex, include sedum roofing, a sensory garden, raised allotment planters, bio-diverse landscaping and solar panels.
