The former head of compliance at Ofgem has been appointed chair of West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA).
Michael Sozansky will succeed Kelly Adams, who has served her maximum five-year term.
Ms Adams said: “It’s been an honour and a pleasure to have been chair of the board of West of Scotland Housing Association for the past five years.
“The association has achieved so much over my tenure, but key highlights for myself include the successful transfer of engagements from Charing Cross Housing Association, the establishment of Westscot Living to provide mid-market homes and our sector-leading work on regeneration and sustainability.
“I am delighted that Michael has been appointed as chair and wish him every success as he guides the association through this next chapter.”
Mr Sozansky has considerable experience in leadership and governance and joined the board of WSHA in 2021.
He has also served as chair of the association’s development and asset sub-committee and audit sub-committee, helping to cultivate “a deep understanding of WSHA’s ethos and output”.
The landlord said that in his own time the new chair is involved in young people’s mentoring and tutoring for literacy programmes in the UK and the US. It described Mr Sozansky as someone who “has a strong drive towards contributing to the creation of a more balanced and equitable society”.
On his appointment, Mr Sozansky said: “It is a genuine privilege to be nominated and then elected as chair of West of Scotland Housing Association, one of Scotland’s leading [landlords], as much as it’s been seeing the organisation go from strength to strength under the guidance of my predecessor, Kelly Adams.
“Having just celebrated the 60th anniversary of the association, I’m honoured to be part of this incredibly hard-working team moving forward into the next 60.”
The 4,200-home landlord hired Simon Fitzpatrick as its chief executive at the end of last year.
