Genesis cuts number of suppliers
Genesis has cut its number of estates services suppliers from 55 to just two in a bid to find savings.
The London housing association has today revealed that deals with 55 suppliers expired yesterday.
It has replaced the 55 suppliers with just two – Just Ask and Mears – under four-year contracts starting today.
The two companies will manage communal cleaning and ground maintenance services across Genesis’ portfolio of 33,000 homes.
Genesis said the move was “part of a concerted drive for efficiency and consistently high standards for all customers”.
A spokesperson said there are operational efficiencies and scheduled savings attributed to the contracts, but would not provide specific figures.
The contract with Just Ask is worth an estimated £16m, while the contract with Mears is worth £6m.
Just Ask will now be responsible for a wide range of services including communal cleaning, grounds maintenance, window cleaning, pest control and bulk waste removal at Genesis properties in the Home Counties, Essex and East Anglia, along with boroughs in west and south London.
Mears will cover the same remit in boroughs in north and east London.
Genesis said the companies were selected following a process involving residents at every stage. Bidders for the contract were awarded points for pledging resources to community projects.
