Housing association One Manchester has appointed Keepmoat to build 172 market rent homes for an undisclosed sum.
The contractor will build two developments in Hulme, south Manchester. This includes one development of 67 two-bedroom flats and another of 105 homes, made up of a mixture of two and three-bedroom properties.
The move is the first step by One Manchester into the private rented sector market. Dave Power, chief executive of One Manchester, said: “All the revenue generated will be reinvested into our work in the local area and our communities.”
One Manchester, which owns 12,500 homes, also said Keepmoat had demonstrated a “commitment to apprentices” and had pledged to adopt the policy of using local suppliers.
