One of Northern Ireland’s largest housing associations has appointed a new chief executive.

Apex announces Sheena McCallion as new chief executive #ukhousing

Sheena McCallion has been named the new boss of 4,500-home landlord Apex.

She replaces Gerry Kelly, who announced his retirement in May.

Ms McCallion was previously director of housing and care services at Apex, having worked at the association for 22 years.

“Apex has a clear social purpose that delivers outcomes which make a positive difference to people’s lives, enabling the development of vibrant communities across Northern Ireland and Ireland,” she said.

“I am committed to Apex’s vision and values and I look forward to ensuring Apex remains at the forefront in building sustainable communities through the delivery of quality social and affordable homes and related care and support services.”

John Meehan, chair of Apex, said: “I am delighted to confirm that Sheena McCallion has been appointed chief executive to succeed Gerry Kelly, who retires this November after many years of excellent service.

“Following a rigorous recruitment exercise which produced a number of strong candidates, I am extremely pleased that Sheena will now take up the post.”

Apex employs around 650 staff, with a group turnover of £45.5m. It has a development pipeline of around 1,000 homes.
