Léann Hearne said the decision follows a series of “life-changing” events over the past year, including the “devastating loss” of her mother, her father’s deteriorating health, and her husband’s cancer scare and heart attack.

“These experiences have prompted me to reassess my future and consider how I prioritise my family,” she said.

Ms Hearne said she will be adopting a more “flexible approach” to work, “one that allows me to remain in a sector I’m passionate about, while also granting me precious time with my loved ones”.

“In short, this is the right thing for me, my family and for Livv,” she added.

Ms Hearne joined the landlord, then known as First Ark, in October 2018, following a regulatory downgrade. Before that she was executive director of shared services and business transformation at Riverside.

She said First Ark “had lost its way and wasn’t in an ideal position”.

“I came in with the goal of rebuilding confidence and relationships, and placing social housing back at the core of the business.

“We worked diligently to ensure we could regain regulatory compliance, and in 2022, our regulator commended us for our pace and commitment.”

Livv, which was formed in 2020 and now owns and manages 13,000 homes across Knowsley and Liverpool, has retained the top regulatory grades of G1/V1 for the past three years.

Ms Hearne said she is “incredibly proud of our accomplishments and the journey of improvement we’ve been on as a business”.

She added: “As our sector evolves, regulatory requirements increase and the need to do more with fewer resources continues to pose challenges for Livv and housing associations nationwide.

“However, I’m confident that the foundations established over the past few years will enable Livv to keep evolving and responding to the ever-changing needs of our customers.”

Livv said Ms Hearne has “played a significant part” in its journey, “leading us through a comprehensive rebrand, two regulatory upgrades and the successful delivery of two corporate plans”.

“We are immensely grateful to Léann for her strong and decisive leadership and look forward to building upon her legacy to ensure a robust and sustainable future for the business, our colleagues, our customers, and our communities,” the association said in a statement.

It said Ms Hearne will work closely with its board over the next year to “ensure a seamless transition”.

Earlier this year, Notting Hill Genesis appointed Ms Hearne to its board and to chair its regulatory compliance sub-committee.

She was recruited to oversee the landlord’s improvement plan to regain regulatory compliance.
