NG Homes has been judged compliant by the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) after the landlord improved its governance and approach to tenant safety.

In an updated engagement plan published this month, the SHR highlighted the changes that NG Homes had made to its board, which is set to review this year.
The regulator said it will continue to work with the landlord as it works through outstanding improvement actions, including its approach to succession planning.
Registered as North Glasgow Housing Association and trading as NG Homes, the landlord owns around 5,500 social rent homes.
The registered social landlord is considered “systemically important” by the SHR.
The association came under review by the regulator after serious failings were found in its response to lift inspections in October 2023.
In May 2024, the SHR judged NG Homes non-compliant after an investigation found the landlord was not meeting its legal duties on health and safety, including lifts, and this had not been picked up through its self-assurance process.
The regulator also flagged concerns about how the landlord’s governing body is updated and manages risk and assurance effectively.
The grading came despite NG Gomes confirming it had worked through all its lift repairs and put in a process to make sure actions from future inspections are carried out.
A year later, the SHR judged the association to be working towards compliance, though it said NG Homes is working “openly and constructively”.
The association had commissioned an independent review of its governance and an audit into tenant safety.
The regulator is now only engaging with NG Homes on governance and will require the landlord to send updates four times a year on its progress with the remaining improvements.
