Sara Woodall, most recently director of customer experience at Connexus, will be taking on the role of director of communities.

Deina Hockenhull leaves a strategic communications and engagement role at Carmarthenshire County Council to step into a newly established position of group director of people and insights at Barcud.

The landlord believes that “these strategic appointments reflect Barcud HA’s commitment to strengthening its leadership and driving forward its mission to create vibrant, resilient communities through excellent tenant service, innovation, and inclusive engagement”.

Ms Woodall’s previous work has included tenancy management, homelessness, supported housing, outreach, young people’s services, and community investment for 10,500 homes.

She has also held senior roles at Accord Housing and GreenSquareAccord, as well as served as chief executive of Heantun Housing Association.

Ms Hockenhall’s appointment comes with 25 years’ experience in Welsh local government and expertise in enhancing services through digital platforms, data and insights.

Her new role at Barcud will help drive a “forward-thinking approach to people development, insight-driven strategy and tenant engagement”.

Jason Jones, chief executive of Barcud, said: “The board and leadership team are thrilled to welcome Sara and Deina to Barcud.

“Their energy, depth of experience and passion for people and communities is undeniable and a good fit for Barcud.

“These exciting new appointments herald the start of a new era at Barcud with innovation, inclusion and making a lasting impact for our residents and the wider communities at the heart of everything we do.”

The landlord added that it “looks forward to the journey ahead with a refreshed leadership team that is well placed to deliver on its commitment to providing exceptional services and empowering communities across its regions”.

These new appointments appear to be the first at the 4,000-home housing association since its assistant director of finance left in January.

Barcud set out a strategic objective in 2021 of reaching 5,000 homes by mid-2025 after securing £70m in financing from pensions and insurance giant Phoenix Group and Barclays.
