Helen Simpson, chair of Broadacres, added: “We are delighted to announce that Lee Sugden has joined Broadacres as our interim chief executive.

“Lee has a strong track record as an experienced and respected chief executive within the sector.

“We are looking forward to him working with Broadacres board and executive team to continue to deliver our corporate objectives.”

Mr Sugden’s appointment comes weeks after Gail Teasdale stepped down from the top job after seven years for personal reasons.

At the time, Ms Teasdale said: “It has been a privilege to champion the voice of rural housing in North Yorkshire and nationally.

“I am proud of what Broadacres has contributed during the years I have served as chief executive and of the role rural housing can play in the community.”

The board at Broadacres thanked Ms Teasdale for her hard work and commitment to the organisation, saying it has delivered great homes and great customer experiences.

The news also follows other changes to the senior leadership team at the housing association.

Andrew McColl, formerly interim chief finance officer at Thirteen, is now director of resources at Broadacres.

Michael Jones was appointed development and investment director after working as assistant director of housing at City of York Council.
