Victor da Cunha, chief executive of Curo, has been appointed chief customer officer at Notting Hill Genesis (NHG).
Mr da Cunha will join the 65,000-home London-based social landlord in March and will help return it to regulatory compliance, working particularly on its consumer standards.
The news comes nearly a year after NHG was handed non-compliant C3 and G3 gradings by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).
Mr da Cunha has more than 30 years’ experience in the sector and was appointed as a board member at the National Housing Federation last year.
Under his leadership, Curo, a 14,000-home community benefit society based in the South West of England, was given the highest rating for consumer standards, C1, in July.
Mr da Cunha said: “I am joining Notting Hill Genesis at an important and exciting time. My priority will be to work on building a truly trusted partnership with residents: a partnership that ensures that residents’ voices are not just heard, but are the driving force behind our service improvements.
“This means harnessing colleagues’ collective efforts to deliver proactive, consistent and reliable services which remain flexible to respond to the changing needs of residents.
“From repairs, tenancy management, maintenance to community engagement, this will be our aim.
“Delivering this will see NHG fulfil our purpose – to make a meaningful contribution to the UK’s housing crisis, and to behave fairly and responsibly in everything we do.
“I am excited by this opportunity and to work alongside our colleagues and residents to bring real change.”
Patrick Franco, chief executive of Notting Hill Genesis, said: “We have made important progress in our transformation journey at Notting Hill Genesis, but we have more to do.
“I am thrilled that Vic will be joining us, bringing his track record of placing customers at the heart of service delivery, and his passion for what we can achieve as a truly resident-focused housing association.”
Chyrel Brown will continue as interim chief customer officer at NHG for the next five months.
News of Mr da Cunha’s appointment follows two other high-profile hires by the G15 provider made in November last year.
Last December Craig Wilcockson took over the role of chief people officer, and in April Tabitha Kassem joined as chief governance and risk officer.
