Ruth Cooke, former chief executive of Clarion, has been made permanent chief executive of an 11,000-home housing association currently working through a series of regulatory issues.
Ms Cooke was brought in as interim boss of GreenSquare in February.
Her appointment came a month before the Regulator of Social Housing announced that GreenSquare had breached the Home Standard for fire, gas and lift safety failings.
The regulator said the Wiltshire-based association “had failed to implement a large number of high-priority actions arising from fire risk assessments”.
This is the first permanent senior role Ms Cooke has taken on since she left her role as chief executive at the UK’s largest housing association, Clarion, last October. Ms Cooke resigned after five months in charge. Before her time at Clarion, she was chief executive of 32,000-home Midland Heart for six years.
GreenSquare has also appointed Rachel Crownshaw to the new role of customer experience director. She joins from Pelican Business Services UK, a billing and collections company serving the water sector.
Other hires include three new board members: David Greenhalgh, executive director of property services at LiveWest, Pat Brandum, former chief executive of WM Housing, and Pablo Andres, group financial controller at G4S.

“Since arriving at GreenSquare, I’ve been working with the team to agree our updated corporate strategy which has a focus on delivering our core services and delivering them really well.”
