More than 180 homeless and formerly homeless people who have died over the past year in the capital were remembered at an annual service in London.
People with experience of being homeless reflected on their time on the streets during the service last week at St Martin-in-the-Fields.
Streetwise Opera and The Choir with No Name gave a series of readings and performances at the event on Thursday, which had a theme this year of ‘springing up to eternal life’.
Revd Richard Carter of St Martin-in-the-Fields, who lead the service, said: “This is always one of the most profoundly affecting services held at St Martin-in-the-Fields.”
Combined Homelessness and Information Network (CHAIN) database figures out in May show rough sleeping in London went up 15% between January to March 2014 and the same period in 2015.
