The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has placed London-based Arhag Housing Association on its gradings under review list.
In a regulatory notice this morning (8 December), the RSH announced that it was investigating Arhag Housing Association on matters that may affect its compliance with the Governance and Financial Viability Standard.
The Stratford-based provider manages over 900 homes across 15 boroughs, mostly in the capital, and focuses on supporting migrants and refugees facing housing issues.
Landlords being investigated for an issue related to their compliance are added to the English regulator’s gradings under review list until the investigation is completed and a new narrative regulatory judgement is published.
As it has fewer than 1,000 social housing units, Arhag Housing Association does not have grades.
However, the RSH can publish decisions about serious failings in relation to any standard in a regulatory judgement, whether or not it issues grades for that landlord.
Arhag, which stands for African Refugee Housing Action Group, was founded in 1979 as a campaigning organisation for the better treatment of migrants and refugees.
In 2016, the organisation broadened its mission to become a hub for various charities and community organisations working with east London’s asylum seekers, refugees and migrants.
Arhag was approached for comment.
