Inside Housing writer wins top award

Lydia was named new section editor of the year at the Professional Publishers Association’s prestigious annual New Talent Awards.

The judges said she won because she ‘delivers an impressive features section with very different and hard-hitting stories’.

They added: ‘She displays great investigative journalism, making excellent use of the Freedom of Information Act to unearth harrowing statistics. Lydia’s diplomacy and ambition was applauded by all the judges.’

Lydia’s winning pieces included a major investigation into the growing number of annual assaults on housing staff, All in a day’s work.

Also shortlisted from Inside Housing were Jess McCabe, deputy features editor, in the new business features journalist of the year category, business reporter Gavriel Hollander in the news journalist of the year category, and Hannah Krol in the sub editor of the year category.
