The large London landlord has now brought in NHG’s current group director of assets and sustainability, Elly Hoult, as its new chief operating officer.

It comes as Ashling Fox, who was Peabody’s deputy chief executive and has been with the group for nearly eight years, left last week and joined Bromford as its chief customer officer.

Ms Fox’s departure follows news that Peabody’s chief operating officer, Sarah Thomas, will depart next spring to join fellow London landlord RHP.

Ian McDermott, Peabody’s chief executive, said that the 104,000-home group was taking the opportunity to “slim down” its executive team. This involves replacing Ms Fox and Ms Thomas with a “single, redefined COO role”, he added.

Ms Hoult will join the group in January before taking on her full responsibilities as the new COO in April, when Ms Thomas leaves for RHP.

Ms Hoult will oversee Peabody’s team of managing directors who are each responsible for different regions, as part of the group’s new operating model.

Peabody’s working practices have been in the spotlight this year after it emerged that the dead body of a 61-year-old resident was left undiscovered for two years

Prior to NHG, Ms Hoult spent nearly three-and-a-half years at Orbit Group and before that 13 years at A2Dominion in various roles.

The news on the restructure came as Peabody revealed that its half-year surplus slightly dipped despite a sharp jump in revenue, helped by the addition of Catalyst following the completion of a merger in April.
