Notting Hill and Genesis have completed their 64,000-home merger, the newly-formed organisation has announced.
The two organisations have merged to form Notting Hill Genesis, less than nine months after talks were first announced.
As originally intended, Kate Davies, the chief executive of Notting Hill, is now chief executive of the new organisation, while Elizabeth Froude, deputy chief executive of Genesis, has the same role at the new association.
Dipesh Shah, meanwhile, the chair of Genesis, is now chair of Notting Hill Genesis.
The two organisations aim to unlock £20m worth of savings a year through the merger, and hope that this could help them to deliver 400 extra homes.
The merger had proved controversial with some residents of both housing associations, and the former chair of the housing association that became Genesis wrote a letter to Mr Shah in January declaring his intention to vote against it.
In the end, however, shareholders – made up of residents, founders, current and former board members, and people with an interest in social housing – voted strongly in favour of merging.
