Karbon Group has announced a new chair and made nine non-executive appointments to its board and subsidiaries.
The housing association, which manages or owns more than 34,000 homes in the North East and Yorkshire, announced a leadership reshuffle that will also affect subsidiaries 54North Homes and Leazes Homes.
This includes its new for-profit provider Graphite Living.
Alexis Cleveland, vice-chair at Karbon, was named chair designate and will step into the role on 1 July 2025.
She will take over from current chair Sir David Bell upon his retirement this year.
Three other appointments were made by Karbon, including David Murtagh as group board member and chair of the group audit and risk committee, as well as Rachel Turnbull and Raman Sanghera as group board members.
Andy Gamble is set to replace Steve Secker as chair of 54North Homes, which became a subsidiary of Karbon in 2022 following the merger of Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association and York Housing Association.
Oliver Boundy will join Mr Gamble as a board member.
Leazes Homes, which joined Karbon Group in 2024 and operates more than 750 homes in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, will welcome Celia Weldon as a non-executive director.
At Graphite Living, Christine Smith has been appointed as a non-executive director and Dennis Watson has been named chair.
Paul Fiddaman, chief executive at Karbon, said: “This is an exciting time to be joining the Karbon Group, as we push forward with our ambitious plans to develop more new homes across the region and grow the services we provide.
“The diverse range of skills, passion and experience our new members bring will be vital in guiding the delivery of our strategy.
He also paid tribute to outgoing chairs Sir David of Karbon and Mr Secker of 54North Homes.
Mr Fiddaman said: “They have both played key roles in the group, helping us get to where we are today, and I wish them all the best for the future.”
The leadership reshuffle is set to take place from this month and subject to the board’s approval.
